Degree/Experience Req: Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineer, Computer Engineering or Systems Engineering required; PMP Certification a plus.
Job Description: InHand Electronics’ is recruiting team members to assists in the direction and leadership of new projects and product designs. Candidates must be able to see and execute to the “big picture”. The Project/Systems Engineer will be responsible for the specification and development of custom handheld and wireless products. This individual will function as the internal customer advocate and liaison and work to ensure the customer's satisfaction with the delivered product. This individual will be responsible for defining the product and delivering the product on-spec, on-time, and on-budget.
Primary duties & responsibilities include:
- Take ownership of individual custom product requirements and drive product to completion throughout a multi-phased development process
- Work with customers and internal engineering teams to develop detailed specifications and requirements for handheld and wireless devices
- Create high level test plans and incorporate system-level requirements to improve quality
- Interface with customers regarding their requirements and needs and propose innovative solutions
- Manage project processes and procedures to drive project to completion
- Ensure that system-level requirements are met
- Perform system level electronic design including component selection/recommendation and interconnect diagrams.
- Perform and participate in schematics/design reviews
- Conduct regular status/project meetings with the customer.
- Track progress and costs to ensure an on-time and on-budget completion to the project.
- Work with contract manufacturing during prototype and initial product roll out.
- Other duties as required.
Skill & Experience Requirements:
- Familiarity with embedded system
- Familiarity with board-level electronics design and/or embedded software development
- Strong leadership skills and tact in a cross-function, matrix-reporting environment are required
- Must have familiarity with all aspects of the electronics design and project development cycle
- Must work well under deadline pressure.
- Must be highly organized, driven, self-motivated, and focused.
- Must be fluent in spoken and written English.
- Market-based customer project experience is preferred (co-op or project)
- Project/Team Lead experience a plus (co-op or project)
- Knowledge of handheld and wireless device standards a plus
- Knowledge of embedded system software design a plus
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to write requirements documentation in a clear, easy to understand format.
- Strong understanding of general software development techniques and methodologies is preferred.
- Experience with project planning in an Agile development methodology is a plus.
- Requires 10-20% travel, local and domestic
- Requires frequent typing, reading, and use of the mouse on computer.
- Requires standing, walking and sitting for extended periods of time
- Requires frequent communication in person, by telephone and through written correspondence
Education, Training & Certification Requirements:
- Bachelor degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or Systems Engineering is required.
- PMP Certification a plus but not required.
