Job Description:

InHand Electronics is seeking an energetic, highly-motivated individual with excellent engineering and leadership skills for a challenging and rewarding position designing electronics board-level solutions and managing InHand’s electronics engineering staff. The successful candidate will have strong working knowledge of system design and be eager to learn about exciting new technologies in the world of wireless and handheld devices. The successful candidate will create/modify electronic board-level design procedures, manage hardware engineering employees, create and document hardware designs, interface with other InHand managers and executives for technical and business issues, and interface with customers as necessary during the completion of projects.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities include:

  • Performing board-level design activities for internal R&D and custom projects such as smart sensors, wearable computers, PDAs, and cell phones
  • Assisting in the development of project plans that include Statements of Work (SOW), requirements, resources, and schedules
  • Creating internal procedures and documentation to ensure consistent and efficient completion of board-level hardware design projects
  • Monitoring design quality and incorporating procedures to improve quality
  • Serving as an interface to customers, as needed
  • Managing multiple engineers and design projects simultaneously
  • Monitoring project progress and making changes as needed to keep projects on track
  • Conducting project reviews
  • Providing periodic status reports to company management
  • Working with Sales and Business Development Managers so that customer engagements are properly planned
  • Working with other Engineering Managers to ensure that projects remain on schedule and within specification

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • 10 years total experience, with at least 6 years in board-level hardware design and 4 years in managing electrical engineering personnel
  • BSEE degree
  • Strong leadership, communications, and organizational skills
  • Strong skills in creating design procedures and documentation
  • Familiarity with all aspects of the electronics design and project development cycle

 

Additional Desired Qualifications:

  • Background in system design
  • Knowledge of handheld and wireless device standards
  • RF and wireless design experience
  • FPGA design experience
  • Design of electronics for military and industrial environments
  • Design of small, densely laid out electronic boards
  • Design for manufacturing (DFM)
  • Low-power electronics design
  • Knowledge of embedded software development (e.g., bootloaders, operating systems such as Windows CE and Linux, etc.)
  • US citizenship
